Ornithorhynchus Anatinus "Ana" Platypus is the daughter of Elsie Jean and Dr. Bill Platypus and the granddaughter of Grandma Mel, Grandpa Tom, Dada, and Nana. Together with her parents, she lives in the Platypus Mound between the Museum-Go-Round and Daniel's clock. She is also the (adopted) cousin to Bob Dog.[1]
Along with Prince Tuesday and Daniel Striped Tiger, Ana attends school at Someplace Else. She is soft-spoken and kind, loves to draw, and has a special appreciation for animals -- especially horses.
Although she suggests that she would like to marry Daniel Striped Tiger when she is older, a look into Margaret H. Witch's crystal ball reveals that Daniel will marry Collette. Ana will become a children's doctor.

Ana's name is derived from the scientific name for platypus -- Ornithorhynchus Anatinus.[2] Additionally, her name is a subtle nod to Anna Freud -- the youngest daughter of famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud and a successful psychoanalyst in her own right.
Although Ana's name is typically spelled with only one "N", when she receives her name tag on the first day of school at Someplace Else, it is spelled "A-N-N-A." [3]
