Misterogers (CBC, 3/9/1964)

Air Date: March 9, 1964
Mister Rogers welcomes viewers and, along with Big Steve the Elephant, sings We Are Elephants.
In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Tadpole Frogg tells his father that he has seen an elephant nearby but Dr. Frogg does not believe such foolishness.
Elsewhere, Scott Mel, the Sultan of Horaczek, and his guide, Roland Robinson, approach Daniel's clock where they meet Daniel Striped Tiger. So that the travelers are aware of his good nature, Daniel sings I'm Tame. After Scott Mel shares that they are in search of King Friday XIII, Tad arrives at the clock and is immediately intimidated by the size of the sultan's elephant (despite its miniature stature). The sultan reveals that Mr. Robinson is not able to understand the conversation unless the words are spoken in reverse. The sultan, himself, is able to understand because has recently taught himself to understand in preparation for his travels. Speaking backwards, Daniel asks Mr. Robinson to show Tad that the elephant is nice.
Moving along to the castle, King Friday greets the sultan with a "sea song" -- Propel, Propel, Propel Your Craft -- since a portion of his journey was traveled by sea. In return, Scott Mel presents King Friday with a variety of gifts including a robe, a "wrist ring", a crown filled with candy and a greeting from the sultan's homeland played on a bejeweled "machine that plays the round thing called records." The words spoken on the recording are, of course, in reverse.
Back at the house, Mister Rogers wonders what the meeting between King Friday and the sultan might be about. He closes with Tomorrow.
Notes
The "machine that plays the round thing called records" is a mid-1960s Lionel Spear-Tone record player which has been decorated with jewels and other designs.
During the credits, Mr. Robinson is seen playing with the elephant in Make-Believe.
