Donkey Hodie is practicing her catching when Bob Dog arrives. He is invited by Gameshow Gator to participate in a game of Fastest Fetcher against Turtle Lou. Sure that he will win against the slow turtle, Bob Dog is surprised to find that Turtle Lou is a very fast fetcher.
After losing twice to Turtle Lou, Bob Dog becomes sad and disappointed because he is not the fastest fetcher. Since he cannot be the best, he decides that he will give up fetching and find something else to do instead. After talking it over with Donkey Hodie, Bob Dog tries bowling and knitting but is still a fetcher at heart.
Fetching the ball for Donkey Hodie so she can play catch, Bob Dog realizes that he finds true joy fetching and decides that he will continue fetching even though he many not be the fastest.
