I Like To Take My Time

Written by Fred Rogers | © 1970, Fred M. Rogers

I like to take my time
I mean that when I want to do a thing
I like to take my time and do it right.

I mean I might just make mistakes
If I should have to hurry up and so
I like to take my time

To tie my shoes
To eat
To get dressed
To go to sleep at night
To sing a song for you and everything
I do

I like to take my time
I mean that when I want to do a thing
I like to take my time and do it right.

I mean I might just make mistakes
If I should have to hurry up and so
I like to take my time

Notes

On Episode 1282, Mister Rogers sings a variation of this song's lyrics as he stuffs a toy panda for his nephew: "...to eat, to get dressed, to go to sleep at night. To make a panda, toy for my nephew boy..."

This song was reimagined for a 2021 episode of Donkey Hodie.
