Episode 1258

Air Date: May 17, 1972
Previous Episode: 1257
Next Episode: 1259

Mister Rogers arrives empty-handed but promptly goes to the kitchen where he takes out a fork and a spoon. After looking at the differences between the two utensils, he sings Look and Listen.

Mrs. McFeely stops by with a collection of books featuring intricate lettering and artwork with many smaller images to find on each page. Mister Rogers takes Mrs. McFeely to the back yard where he invites her to play a game where a fork and spoon are hidden in the sand and she is asked find the utensils with her eyes closed.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, no one can find Mr. McFeely so Handyman Negri is making deliveries. When Mr. McFeely is found sleeping behind the castle, he is reprimanded by King Friday XIII but shows compassion for his over-worked deliveryman. Despite his exhaustion, Mr. McFeely is still sent to find a pool of water for the waterskiing demonstration. Lady Elaine Fairchilde offers the services of her magic boomerang and changes a picture of water into a spacious body of water for the skiiers to perform.

Back at house, Mister Rogers takes the small model Trolley to the sand table. After covering the Trolley with sand, he shows that it still exists even though it is out of sight.

Mister Rogers concludes by singing Look and Listen and sharing an animated film.

Notes

As they look for Mr. McFeely, Handyman Negri and Mrs. McFeely stop at the Museum-Go-Round where they interrupt Lady Elaine Fairchilde's bath. She emerges wearing a shower cap and robe.

Look and Listen plays in background multiple times throughout this episode.

The result of Lady Elaine's boomerang magic is not visibly seen in Make-Believe. Instead, the full screen cuts directly to a video of water skiers on a lake which represents the magic boomerang creation.

As the water skiers perform, Lady Elaine's special touch is noticed when, for a short time, the skiers move backwards.

The animated film shared by Mister Rogers is also seen in Episode 1191 and Episode 1437.
