Misterogers (CBC, 12/13/1963)

Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Air Date: December 13, 1963

It's King Friday XIII's birthday and Mister Rogers has a collection of greetings shared by viewers which he sends to Make-Believe on the Neighborhood Trolley.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Mr. Farmer retrieves the cards and packages before stepping away to put them with the other gifts for King Friday. Hearing someone outside the castle, the king is disappointed to find that no one is there and assumes his birthday has been forgotten. He asks viewers to wish him a happy birthday and leads them in singing Happy Birthday to himself.

Daniel Striped Tiger and Mr. Farmer arrive at the castle and present King Friday with a butterfly music box. Daniel takes the king to the castles "sub-basement" where they travel through the newly constructed tunnel to a stage set elsewhere in Make-Believe. Here they meet up with Lady Elaine Fairchilde and X the Owl for a surprise performance of "Butterfly, Butterfly, What Can You Say."

Following the performance, everyone heads to the castle for a continued celebration as Mr. Farmer sings We're Going to Have a Party (The Party Song).

Back at the house, Mister Rogers concludes by singing Goodnight God.
