THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers | ||
Episode 1634Topic: Growing Mister Rogers checks on the growth of his bean plant as he arrives and finds that it has grown since he first planted it a few days earlier. Sitting at the kitchen table with the bag he brough with him, Mister Rogers takes out plastic toy vegetables. He uses them to play a game with viewers where he takes one of the vegetables away and viewers are to guess which one has been removed. After singing You Are Special, Mister Rogers visits the Neighborhood barbershop where he gets a haircut from Nick Failla. Mr. Failla and Mister Rogers talk about the many things that happen when a person gets a haircut and assure viewers that haircuts are nothing to fear. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, everyone is taking a nap as Robert Troll arrives and sees the Big Thing. Able to communicate with the Big Thing, Robert Troll understands that it would like to have a blanket. Robert Troll goes to Daniel's clock to borrow a blanket and shares with Daniel that he thinks the big thing is going to grow. When a warm blanket is placed on the Big Thing, a stem and leaves emerge from its side. Purple Panda is excited and leaves to get something that will "make it even better." Back at the house, Mister Rogers sings I Like to Be Told. NotesThe game Mister Rogers plays with the plastic vegetables is very similar to the game he played the previous day with the Neighborhood of Make-Believe models. Mister Rogers also receives a haircut from Mr. Failla in Episode 1262. As Mr. Failla is finishing up Mister Rogers' haircut, another customer, Bob Trow, comes into the barbershop for a haircut.
