Air Date: February 27, 1973
Previous Episode: 1266
Next Episode: 1268

Mister Rogers arrives with an old feather hat which he tries on before sharing pictures of people wearing different kinds of hats.

Elsie Neal stops by with a new item from her shop -- a piece of hand woven fabric made in Africa. She and Mister Rogers look at the intricate detail of the fabric. Ms. Neal tries on the feather hat and invites Mister Rogers to her shop where she can how him how to make a hat.

At the shop, Elsie Neal and her daughter Debbie work with Mister Rogers as they use craft supplies to make hats.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Grandpere shares a bon bon with Lady Abelrin -- a gift sent to him from Collette. He tells Lady Aberlin about the dress Collette sent to Henrietta Pussycat but Henrietta is shy when Lady Aberlin asks to see it. Henrietta mentions that the hat she received from Collette is too big and she would like to give it to Queen Sara. The Queen is pleased to accept the gift from Henrietta as it reminds her of the days leading up to her marriage to King Friday. She recalls a time she and King Friday went on a walk through the flowers.

Back at the house, Mister Rogers talks about how you can't always wear the things you want at time you want to wear them. He suggests that what a person wears is not what makes them special. He concludes by singing You Are Special.
