Misterogers (CBC, 1/20/1964)Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Mister Rogers blows soap bubbles and thinks about how he might move if he were a bubble. He uses the Trolley to send the container of soap solution to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Edgar Cooke is feeling down because of King Friday’s work demands. Captain Blye encourages Edgar to take time off for something fun. Finding the soap solution, Captain Blye begins blowing bubbles which causes Edgar to leave knowing that King Friday would not approve. Captain Blye moves along to the tree as he sings What Would You Like To Do Today. At the tree, he enjoys some more bubble fun with X the Owl and Henrietta Pussycat. Everyone agrees that taking time for fun is important and this should be shared with King Friday. Together they all sing Today is New. Returning to the castle, Captain Blye finds King Friday in a particularly unplayful mood. Together they sing You Have To Learn Your Trade before Captain Blye tries to convince King Friday to learn how to play. Attempting to blow a soap bubble, King Friday is unsuccessful and retreats inside the castle as Captain Blye continues with the bubbles. Edgar Cooke returns to retrieve the soap solution at the request of King Friday. Back at the house, Mister Rogers encourages viewers to patiently encourage fun with grown-ups who sometimes find it difficult to play. Appearing In This Episode
