Marilyn Barnett is a physical education teacher at the Neighborhood school who often comes to teach Mister Rogers exercises. Occasionally she brings along some of her students to help demonstrate the exercises -- one student being her son, Rashidi.[1]

Ms. Barnett is also the aunt of Brian Owens who was receiving a check-up when Mister Rogers visited the dentist.[2]

In the later years of the Neighborhood, Ms. Barnett becomes the principal of Shaffer Elementary School where Mister Rogers once visited.[3]
