Books That Influenced Fred Rogers

Fairly often, letters from Fred Rogers find themselves on eBay. While I don't have any interest in purchasing these letters -- they're usually way overpriced -- I found this one to be very interesting. Contacted in 1991 by an author writing a book about "what people read," Fred Rogers was kind enough to respond with his list of the ten books that had influenced him most.

If you'd like to look into some of these titles yourself, you can follow the links below:

  1. Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
  2. Childhood and Society by Erik Erikson
  3. The Writings of Henri J.M. Nouwen
  4. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
  5. The Vegetarian Times Cookbook
  6. The Angry Book by T.I. Rubin, M.D.
  7. Collected Poems of Robert Frost
  8. The Works of Wililam Shakespeare
  9. The Old Testament of the Bible
  10. The New Testament of the Bible

As for the letter itself, it was listed on eBay for $100. If you've got that kind of extra cash lying around, it's just a few clicks away!
