Episode 1156

Air Date: March 22, 1971
Previous Episode: 1155
Next Episode: 1157

Mister Rogers arrives with a homemade kit for stringing things together such as empty spools and small beads. In the kitchen, as he connects the small pieces, Mister Rogers mentions that he has made similar kits for children to use at the Neighborhood hospital. He remembers a time that he himself had an operation and stayed in the hospital.

After singing I Like To Be Told, Mister Rogers is visited by Mary Sweenie who shares a Neighborhood of Make-Believe needlepoint she is working on. Putting on her glasses, Mrs. Sweenie demonstrates how to do needlepoint.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, X the Owl and Cousin Mary Owl find that Henrietta Pusscat is having difficulties with a needlepoint project and think she may need new glasses. After Handyman Negri receives word that the Platypus family will return on Thursday, he helps to schedule an appointment with Henrietta's eye doctor -- Dr. Meow Meow Meow. Handyman Negri shares the news about the Platypus family with King Friday and informs him that Dr. Meow Meow Meow will be coming to check on Henrietta tomorrow. With such a large week ahead, the two retire to the LW Room to discuss the coming events.

Back at the house, Mister Rogers talks about asking questions of grown-ups and concludes by singing I Like To Take My Time.

Notes

I Like To Take My Time plays in the background as Mister Rogers takes his kit to the kitchen.

The homemade craft kit is similiar to the Make-It Factory -- a commercial product marketed several years later.

Mister Rogers mentions that a drink of ginger ale initially hurt going down after his operation, but he never discloses the actual procedure he underwent.

Mrs. Sweenie suggests that she learned how to do needlepoint from Audrey (Roth) Cleans Everything.
