Murphy Brown

On the episode "Gold Rush" from Murphy Brown's third season (1990), Jerry Gold and Murphy rekindle their romance despite their opposite opinions within the political world. As Jerry considers his situation, he compares himself to the stereotypical image of Mister Rogers.

Jerry: "Where was my backbone? All I needed was a cardigan sweater, a pair of slippers, and the sheet music to 'It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.'"
