THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers

Daniel Thinks of Others

Episode 217
Title Daniel Thinks of Others
Daniel Thinks of What Margaret Needs
Air Date February 16, 2016

Daniel Tiger is at school where he is drawing a picture of his family. He make-believes that he can go inside the pictures he is drawing. Daniel adds glitter to his picture and stashes it away in his cubby.

Miss Elaina invites Daniel to join her in her pretend store. They work together to make a special sign for the store but soon find that Daniel has used all of the glitter on his own picture. Teacher Harriet encourages Daniel to think about what other people need in everything that he does.

Making a special scuplture for Miss Elaina out of clay, Daniel becomes aware that he has used all of the purple clay and decides to put some back in case anyone else would want some.

Prince Wednesday "purcahses" Daniel's sculpture from the store and places it atop his stack of blocks. Daniel is happy to have provided his friend with exactly what he needed.

Strategy

  • "Whatever you do, think about what other people need, too."
