It's a beautiful day in Someplace Else and Donkey Hodie is excited to celebrate Mama Panda's birthday with Purple Panda. As they prepare to board Panda's spaceship for Planet Purple Donkey Hodie shows the gift she has for Mama Panda -- a purple flower. Purple Panda has made a special card for his Mama which shows many of the things he loves about her.
Donkey and Panda blast off for Planet Purple once Panda is reminded to review his blast-off checklist. The ship has to return to Someplace Else when Panda realizes he forgot to bring the special card he made.
After blasting off again, they return multiple times for more forgotten items including the birthday cake, balloons, the party horn, a purple piñata, party hats and eventually, even themselves. To be sure they have everything, Donkey Hodie makes a list of items to take to the party.
On Planet Purple, Bob Dog joins Purple Panda and Donkey Hodie in celebrating Mama Panda with a special birthday song.
