THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers

A New Neighborhood Coming to Idlewild

Hold on to your hats, traditionalists. If you've not heard already, the Mister Rogers ride at Idlewild Park near Ligioner, Pennsylvania is done after 25 years of rides through the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, plans are being made to replace it with a similar Trolley ride through Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. In the meantime, a costumed Daniel Tiger will be on hand for the summer of 2014.

According to Jeff Croushore, Idlewild's public relations manager, “The Fred Rogers Company has moved forward with the new series and kids really identify with the new series. Of course everyone in the region loves Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood but we wanted to reach out to the kids of today. They know and they love Daniel and we wanted to make an update and move forward with Daniel.”

Check out the Idlewild page here on the Neighborhood Archive for some photos of the the Mister Rogers ride as well as a few pieces of memorabilia from Idlewild. Feel free to chime in on Facebook with your thoughts on this change.
